A call for Secretary Flanagan's resignation

To:  The Governor of Maryland

I call for Maryland Governor Robert Ehrlich to ask for Secretary of Transportation Robert L. Flanagan's resignation or fire him from that post.

As of December 5 2004 it has been proven that State Highway Administration staff had been overpaying for supplies on items as high as 28 times their retail value. Five of those employees have been fired but the $1.4 million dollars is gone. It took a legislative audit to find this glaring fraud.

Also on Secretaries watch The Bay Bridge had faulty work done that turns out was ordered by a state engineer against the contractor opinion. The Federation of the Blind had to hold a rally to show that Mass Transit Administration equipment was out of date and burdensome to the seeing impaired. The Mobility/Paratransit service had to be taken to court because they were unwilling or unable to provide the correct service in a reasonable amount of time.

These are but a few of the secretaries transgressions. I would like the Governor to ask for Mr. Flanagan's resignation or terminate him for poor work quality.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
