Correct the Billy Penn Curse - No More Jerseys |
To: City of PhiladelphiaPhiladelphia sports teams have suffered at the hands of the dreaded "Curse of Billy Penn" for too long (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curse_of_Billy_Penn).
To make matters worse, we've come close to winning a few championsips in each major sport and been bit by an extension of the curse: decorating Billy Penn. We understand it's an attempt to get the city in the spiring of the games, but it's not helping.
This petition is to request local merchandisers, chain stores, the City, etc to cease and desist placing any sports memorabilia (jerseys, hats, banners, etc) on the William Penn statue atop City Hall in Philadelphia until it is appropriate: for a championship parade. We ask the City to prevent anyone from doing such until its time.
The people signing this petition want a championship in their city. They want to see their teams' names etched in history once again. Please help us!
Sincerely,
