Release Willie Anderson II

After over two years of incarceration, for a murder he did not commit, Willie Eddie Anderson II finally received a trial. The outcome of the trial was a hung jury. Ten of the jurors were in favor of an acquittal, one juror abstained from voting, and one juror felt that Willie was guilty. Despite the outcome of the jury, the prosecution still feels that they can retry a case that, according to them, has "holes" in it.

The court has refused to release Willie on bond, and does not plan to retry the case until 2009.

We the undersigned feel that Willie should be released for the following reasons:

1. The prosecution admitted that there was a lack of evidence against Willie
2. None of the eyewitnesses identified Willie as the shooter
3. There was no weapon found
4. Willie was an honor roll student in his senior year of high school, and wants to complete his high school education
5. Willie was denied bond for two years, because he was considered a "threat" to the community. However, a jury of his peers overwhelmingly considered him to be innocent.

We feel that this injustice has gone on long enough, and Willie should be released. We urge the Jackson County Court System to end this cycle of false imprisonment, and railroading of innocent citizens.

Over two years of Willie's life has been lost. Please allow him to continue his education, and live his life outside of a cell.
