Free Project64

To:  Project64 Development Team

We, the undersigned, wish for the source code of the emulator Project64 to be made available under a free software ("open source") license - preferably, but not limited to, the GNU General Public License (GPL).

Many users and fans of this software prefer to use operating systems that cannot run it. These operating systems, among others, include GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and obsolete versions of Microsoft Windows. Porting the software to other systems is a burden that doesn't have to be placed on the shoulders of the current development team (whose main focus is Windows), but only if they share their code. This could also speed up development, as the users could contribute new features and bug fixes, and the developers could freely borrow code from any forks that might (and likely will) turn up in the future. Share and share alike. Build community.

We hope after reading this petition, the developers of Project64 will realize just how many users there are, who for one reason or another would like to see the source code.
