To: The State Of Texas's cities of Lake Jackson and Clute City Council

We the undersigned

Would sincerely appreciate it if you could provide sufficient road safety measures for safer traveling for senior pedestrians living at The Lake Jackson Manor Apartments whom use wheelchairs and walkers. There needs to be pedestrian crossings for them to get to H.E.B. and Krogers at the intersection lights of Plantation and Dixie Drive. Sidewalks need to be available to the senior pedestrians for use instead of them using the streets to get from place to place. This has become a very BIG problem for the businesses and the active senior citizens living at the Lake Jackson Manor Apartments. Due to the senior residents circumstances of their health and inability to either drive or walk they also need a safer way to get from place to place on their motorized wheelchairs. They have been forced to use the busy roads along plantation and Dixie drive to get to their destination. Heather lane is one way they take to avoid being on the streets to get to their destination and is a road of many different busy businesses. People who work at these businesses have complained numerous times about the safety of the senior citizens and how they have almost backed into them with their cars or hit them at night when leaving work because they cant see them. This problem has not been taken care of and sadly has taken a WONDERFUL, VERY RESPECTED man Larry Bullards life. We just want to make it safer for our senior citizens and we continue to face the reality of a fatality of this highly respected man of our community and we dont want or need another fatality.
Please, please understand how important this is. I dont want this to happen to anyone else. I just want to make this change in Larry Bullards Memory. I dont want his death to be for nothing. Its time to make changes for these senior citizens so that not only can they be safe but also make it safer for people driving who would have to live with a nightmare if they were to hit a pedestrian.
