FREE THE PANCHEN LAMA!!!

We, the undersigned, are profoundly concerned about the well-being of the PANCHEN LAMA OF TIBET (Gedhun Choekyi Nyima) the WORLD'S YOUNGEST POLITICAL PRISONER. He was only 6 years old when he was abducted by the Chinese Government in 1995 and has been in captivity for already SEVEN YEARS.

At the age of six, he was proclaimed by His Holiness the Dalai Lama as the true reincarnation of the late 10th Panchen Lama, the second highest spiritual leader of Tibet. Within days of the announcement, on May 17, 1995, the six year old child and his family were taken from their home by the Chinese police and to this day their whereabouts and well-being are unknown.

We remind the Chinese Government that Article 37(b) of the "United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child" to which China became signatory on 29 August 1990 states:

"...No child shall be deprived of his or her liberty unlawfully or arbitrarily..."

WE URGE THE CHINESE GOVERNMENT TO FREE IMMEDIATELY AND UNCONDITIONALLY THE PANCHEN LAMA!
