Free all political prisoners in Ethiopia

The liberation of all political prisoners is a basic precondition for a free and fair election. The sucess of the democratic process is impossible without freedom of opinion, freedom of speech and freedom of movement. There are Ethiopian exiled veterans who had to leave the country in 1968 when political awareness came to the land as it gripped the world from California to Tokyo and Paris to Pretoria. To this day, they are not allowed to go back, and unless political prisoners are freed refugees cannot envisage returning from exile.
Indifference to intolerance towards differing opinions always ends up nurturing dictatorships, and that has been the case in Ethiopia throughout the decades. The recent repression and the killings of june 8 show that the group in power continues to be a gross violator of human rights. The actual electoral board is partisan and the electoral laws are tailored to the hilt for perpetuating the group in power.
All political prisoners must be freed, the involuntary disappearances accounted for because human rights cannot be selective as it must be applicable to all citizens in any given land.
Injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere.
