Theo tin loan báo trên tờ Jakarta Post ra ngày 30-7-2009, Chính phủ Indonesia đang cứu xét việc nhà cầm quyền Cộng Sản VN yêu cầu phá hủy những di tích c̣n sót lại của trại thuyền nhân tỵ nạn Galang.

Việc làm này của chính quyền Hà nội một lần nữa cho thấy rằng những người lănh đạo Cộng sản Việt Nam biến thái thời nay không khác thời toàn trị ngày trước, v́ bản chất phi nhân, ti tiều, nghịch hẳn với tinh thần nhân bản của dân tộc Việt Nam, chỉ v́ lư do quyền lực đảng trị.

Áp lực phá bỏ di tích của trại tỵ nạn Galang bây giờ cũng như sự phá bỏ các di tích thuyền nhân khác ở Mă Lai trước đây là những hành động làm xấu hổ cho dân tộc Việt Nam vốn hoà ái, nhân nghĩa.

Cộng đồng Người Việt Tự Do tại Úc châu đă nhanh chóng gửi thư cho chính quyền Nam dương lên tiếng về vụ này. Một số đoàn thể tổ chức khác cũng tiếp theo hưởng ứng. Ư nghĩa chính trị của di tích này có phần quan trọng, nhưng ư nghĩa tinh thần và đạo đức c̣n quan trọng hơn trong hoàn cảnh tha hoá hiện nay của đất nước. Những ai trong tâm hồn c̣n là người Việt, v́ dân tộc, không thể yên lặng. Hành động tối thiểu và có thể làm là kư tên vào lời kêu gọi này, như là một khẳng định sự sai trái vô đạo của thái độ những người lănh đạo CSVN biến thái hiện nay.

V́ thế, xin tất cả các quư vị nhận được thư này hăy chuyển đi cho bạn bè bà con của ḿnh, càng nhiều càng tốt, để chia xẻ tâm thức hoà ái nhân nghĩa Việt nam.

V/v trại tỵ nạn thuyền nhân Việt Nam tại Galang: nơi vinh danh ḷng nhân đạo của nhân dân Nam Dương.

Kính thưa Tổng Thống,

Cộng đồng người Việt thuyền nhân tỵ nạn vô cùng xúc động hay tin chính quyền Cộng Ḥa Nam Dương đang có những áp lực từ tập đoàn lănh đạo Cộng hoà Xă hội chủ nghĩa Việt Nam yêu cầu đóng cửa trại tỵ nạn Galang, một chứng tích lịch sử về ḷng nhân đạo của dân chúng Nam Dương đối với hàng trăm ngàn thuyền nhân Việt Nam. Ḷng nhân đạo vô cùng của nhân dân Nam Dương khiến cho toàn thể thế giới ngưỡng mộ.

Nơi đây và măi măi về sau sẽ tiếp tục là địa điểm thu hút du khách trong và ngoài nước hàng ngày tới thăm. Theo vị Chủ tịch Hiệp Hội Du lịch tại Batan, trại thuyền nhân Galang đang là một nguồn lợi tức cho dân chúng địa phương về vấn đề du lịch.

Cộng đồng thuyền nhân Việt Nam tin tưởng rằng nhân dân Nam Dương luôn luôn đề cao Galang là nơi di tích lịch sử của Nam Dương để thế giới chiêm ngưởng ḷng nhân ái của nhân dân Nam Dương đáp ứng với ḷng can đảm của con người đi t́m tự do.

Cộng đồng người Việt thuyền nhân trên toàn thế giới mănh liệt tin tưởng rằng v́ những lư do kinh tế, xă hội và lịch sử, chính quyền Nam Dương do Tổng Thống lănh đạo sẽ sáng suốt để không ra quyết định phá bỏ di tích trại tị nạn Galang dưới áp lực của tập đoàn lănh đạo Cộng hoà xă hội chủ nghĩa Việt Nam.

Call to Action

According to a story in the July 30th edition of the Jakarta Post, The Indonesian government is considering a request by the government of Communist Vietnam to destroy the remaining vestiges of the Refugee Camps in Galang that were once occupied by Vietnamese Boat People.
This request by Hanoi once again demonstrates that the Vietnamese Communist leadership, though changing with the times, is essentially no different than the totalitarian regime of yesteryear. The Communist leadership’s inhumanity and pettiness goes against the humane spirit of the Vietnamese people simply because the Communists put power and party above all else.

The pressure to destroy the historical remains at the Galang refugee camp and previous efforts to destroy the Vietnamese refugee camps in Malaysia shame the Vietnamese people, who are loving and benevolent by nature.

The Community in Australia has already written a letter to the Indonesian government regarding this matter. A number of other groups and organizations have and will continue to follow suit. The political significance of these remains are important, but their spiritual and moral significance pose even greater important in light of the deteriorating state of Vietnam today. Any person who is Vietnamese at heart and who is one with the Vietnamese people cannot remain silent. The minimum action one can take is to sign this letter, as a declaration against the unjust and appalling position of the Vietnamese Communist leadership that is currently in a state of metamorphosis.

Therefore, we call upon all who receive this letter to pass it on to family members, friends, and acquaintances – the more the better – to share in the righteousness of the Vietnamese people.

Re: The former Vietnamese refugee camps on Galang Island, a site that honors the humanitarian spirit of the Indonesian people

Dear Mr. President,

The community of Vietnamese boat people around the world was extremely saddened to learn that your government of the Republic of Indonesia is under pressure from the leadership of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to close the Galang Refugee Camp, a site that serves as historical evidence of the humanitarian spirit of the Indonesian people towards hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese boat people. The compassion of the Indonesian people won the admiration and respect of the world.

The Galang Refugee Camp shall forever be a popular tourist attraction for domestic and international visitors alike. According to The Chairman of the Association of Indonesia Tour and Travel Agencies in Batan, the Galang Refugee Camp is provides a steady source of income for the local population by attracting tourism.

We, the community of Vietnamese boat people believe that Indonesia shall always regard Galang as a historic site worthy of preserving so that the world community may admire the charitable spirit the Indonesian people reserved for those who made the courageous journey in search of freedom.

The world community of Vietnamese boat people strongly believe that because of economic, social, and historial reasons, your government will make the correct choice and decide against destroying the remains of the refugee camp at Galang because of pressure from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
