Gay Star Trek

To:  Paramount Studios-Rick Berman Executive Producer of Enterprise

Dear Mr. Berman,

First off we would like to express how much we enjoy the new Star Trek series, Enterprise. It is truly a wonderful idea, and continues to preach Gene Roddenberry's vision of a positive future for humanity.

It is the wishes of the undersigned that the producers and writers of Enterprise add a gay or lesbian character to series in at least a recurring role. We realize that this is a controversial issue in today's society and we are not asking you to turn the show into "Gay Trek". We are simply asking that a gay or lesbian character be portrayed in a positive light. No stereotypes, no outcasts, no villains ... just an average male or female.

We understand that in the previous spin-offs, it may have been difficult to deal with homosexuality since the setting was the twenty-fourth century and Earth is a paradise in that time. However, with Enterprise taking place in the not too distant future, it would seem much easier to address homosexuality and other issues of present day society.

As more and more television series, including dramas, sit-coms and even reality series, continue to portray gays and lesbians, we feel it is time for Star Trek to address the issue. Thank you for your time and consideration.
