To:  U.S. Congress

This is a petition to amend 18USC Section 1112 Manslaughter Laws to urge Congress to institute a new Section (C) to this law entitled "Involuntary Manslaughter While Impaired".

Our drunk-driving laws are so weak that offenders do not fear the repercussions of their actions. This petition is to express our strong support, as law enforcement and concerned citizens, of mandatory sentencing that would DETER impaired drivers from taking the road, and to send a clear message that driving while impaired will not be tolerated.

We would hope that a mandatory sentence of ten years minimum will be the penalty for a first-time offender that causes a death, with 5 additional years for each previous DUI offense, and an additional 5 years if this accident results in the death of a law enforcement officer.

This petition is in remembrance of Eugene N. Lonon killed April 16, 2003 by a drunk driver and the loved ones of other families also killed by drunk drivers.

Please add your city &state, for more info go to; Google.com keyword:EugeneLonon

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
