We, the undersigned students, faculty and community members, are opposed to the proposed closing of the University System of Georgia two-year colleges or the merging of these schools into the Technical College System as proposed by the Tough Times or Tough Choices Working Group convened by Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue.

The proposed closure/merger affects the following Colleges:

Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College
Atlanta Metropolitan College
Bainbridge College
Coastal Georgia Community College
Dalton State College
Darton College
East Georgia College
Floyd College
Gainesville College
Georgia Perimeter College
Gordon College
Middle Georgia College
South Georgia College
Waycross College

Closing these schools will have a massively negative impact on tens of thousands of students, hundreds of faculty members, and countless community organizations.

Governor Perdue can at ANY TIME issue a directive to finalize the absorption of the two-year colleges into the technical school system.
