Support for UCI employees

We, members of the Case Western Reserve University community (which includes employees, faculty, staff, alumni, and members of the surrounding community), find the outsourcing of University Circle parking operations and shuttle bus service to Standard Parking Company to be damaging to our community.

Not only has the quality of service significantly decreased, but the lives of 101 employees were directly influenced by this change. Only some of the employees have been rehired and there has been no policies enforced by Case to ensure the wages and benefits of those rehired.

A university should be conscious of its effect on its community. The lack of protection for these employees reflects poorly on Case Western Reserve University and taints its reputation.

We believe that it is the right of these workers to be able to work for living wages and have access to affordable healthcare.

We, the undersigned, request the following:

1. Living wages that reflects the standard of living requirements in Cleveland for all employees

2. Affordable and comprehensive healthcare for all full time employees and their families

3. Pension/Retirement plans for all long term employees

4. Option for all employees to retain employment
