Αίτηση για την ενσωμάτωση ελληνικών υποτίτλων σε Blu-Ray και HD-DVD / Inclusion of Greek Subtitles in Blu-Ray and HD-DVD formats

Η τεχνολογική πρόοδος στο χώρο των οπτικοακουστικών συστημάτων είναι ταχύτατη τα τελευταία χρόνια με αποκορύφωμα την έλευση των νέων φορμάτ εικόνας Blu-Ray και HD-DVD που προσφέρουν στους χρήστες τους μία πρωτόγνωρη εμπειρία, την απόλαυση της αγαπημένης τους ταινίας σε εικόνα υψηλής ανάλυσης.

Σε ολόκληρη την υφήλιο τα δύο νέα φορμάτ αγκαλιάστηκαν θερμά από τους θεατές και η επικράτησή τους έναντι του παρωχημένου πλέον DVD προβλέπεται να είναι ταχύτατη.

Ουσιαστικό ρόλο στην εξάπλωση των νέων φορμάτ θα έχει η δυνατότητα των κατοίκων κάθε χώρας ξεχωριστά να παρακολουθήσει τις καινούργιες κυκλοφορίες σε μορφή κατανοητή για αυτούς.

Προς αυτήν την κατεύθυνση, μετά λύπης διαπιστώνουμε ότι η χώρα μας αγνοείται επιδεικτικά όσον αφορά στην ενσωμάτωση ελληνικών υποτίτλων στις νέες κυκλοφορίες και των δύο νέων φορμάτ, ενώ άλλες χώρες με ίδιο ή και μικρότερο πληθυσμό από την Ελλάδα έχουν τη δυνατότητα να τις παρακολουθήσουν με υπότιτλους στη μητρική τους γλώσσα.

Ταυτόχρονα οι εγχώριες εταιρίες διανομής, σύμφωνα με ανακοινώσεις τους, δεν προγραμματίζουν νωρίτερα από το 2008 την κυκλοφορία Blu-Ray και HD-DVD με ενσωματωμένους ελληνικούς υπότιτλους.

Αντιλαμβανόμαστε ότι τεχνικές δυσκολίες δεν υφίστανται, από τη στιγμή που οι ελληνικοί υπότιτλοι υπάρχουν ήδη στις εκδόσεις των ταινιών σε DVD. Επιπλέον, αποκλείεται και πιθανό πρόβλημα χώρου, λόγω της παραπάνω από επαρκούς χωρητικότητας, τόσο στους δίσκους Blu-Ray όσο και HD-DVD.

Θεωρούμε ότι η ενσωμάτωση ελληνικών υποτίτλων στις επόμενες κυκλοφορίες θα δώσει την αναγκαία ώθηση ώστε και οι Ελληνες θεατές να απολαύσουν το συντομότερο δυνατόν αυτό που θεατές άλλων χωρών απολαμβάνουν ήδη, ενώ θα αποτελέσει και καταλυτικό παράγοντα ώστε τα νέα φορμάτ να καθιερωθούν όσο το δυνατόν γρηγορότερα έναντι του παρωχημένου αλλά ισχυρού, ως προς τη βάση χρηστών, DVD.

Technology progress in the field of Audio-Visual equipment/systems has been very fast over the past years, with the peak being the arrival of the new video formats, namely Blu-Ray and HD DVD, that offer their users an unprecedented experience, that of the enjoyment of all their favourites movies in a high definition video format.

All around the globe the two formats have received a warm welcome from the viewers and their prospective dominance over the ageing DVD format is expected to be very speedy.

An essential factor for the spread of the new formats is going to be the potential of the citizens of each country to be able to watch the new releases in a comprehendible form.

In that direction, with great disappointment we realize that our country has been greatly ignored as far as including Greek subtitles in the new releases of both new formats, while other countries with the same or even less population than Greece have the opportunity to watch them with captions in their native language.

At the same time, domestic distribution companies, according to press releases, are not programming sooner than 2008 the release of any Blu-Ray or HD-DVD discs with Greek subtitles included.

It is our understanding that there are no technical difficulties, since Greek subtitles already exist in the respective DVD releases. Furthermore, space can’t be a possible problem, due to the more than sufficient capacity of both Blu-Ray and HD-DVD discs.

We believe that the inclusion of Greek subtitles in the coming releases will provide the needed push so that Greek viewers enjoy sooner rather than later what viewers from other countries have already been offered and also play a vital part for the new formats to gain market share over the ageing, but with large user base, DVD format.
