We, the gaming community, are concerned with the increasing prices of Games Workshop products.
The disparity between the American and European prices is puzzling to say the least, but now Games Workshop intend to raise the prices on UK and European blister pack categories C, D, E and G by 1. This will in effect increase the price of rank-and-file troops for the Warhammer Fantasy Battles and Warhammer 40,000 game systems by an intolerable amount. In fact, these are the same rank-and-file troops who have conveniently become the focus of the new game systems and therefore are required in larger amounts.
This is unacceptable.
The proposed price increase has no basis in rising production costs or inflation. It is purely an increase with the intention of generating a larger profit margin at the expense of the gamers.
Games Workshop will loose customers due to this price increase. This is not a threat, but a fact. A large number of long time gamers have already voiced their intentions of either: starting to buy second-hand, shifting to another miniature company or leaving the hobby entirely!
This price increase will also hurt independent retailers who could be forced to drop Games Workshop products and switch to cheaper brands of miniatures. A result of this will be the difficulty of getting Games Workshop products in countries that lack official Games Workshop stores.
So we, the undersigned, urge Games Workshop to reconsider this unnecessary price increase and indeed the higher prices on the American market as you have already reconsidered the price of the new plastic Chaos Space Marine boxed set.
