Herb Brooks Memorial Trophy

To:  IIHF & NHL & WHA & NCAA

To: IIHF, NHL, WHA, AHL, ECHL and the NCAA
1. We the undersigned request that the respective leagues to approve a proposal that would add a memorial trophy to the hockey community.

Specifically, We request the Herb Brooks Memorial Trophy to be created.

Ratification of this proposal would give a lasting memorial to Herb Brooks and would be hockey’s highest single award.
2. The Herb Brooks Memorial Trophy would be given to the most outstanding member of the hockey community for his/her achievements on and off the ice.
3. This trophy would be the property of no league (NHL, WHA, AHL, ECHL, or the NCAA and so on) But would be owned and managed by the governing body of hockey.
4. We also ask that voting rights on the trophy be give as such:
a)Each league be given one (1) vote. (NHL, WHA, AHL, ECHL, NCAA and so on)
b)Newspapers would be awarded voting rights, one (1) vote per newspaper.
c)The Hockey Governing body could also give voting rights to the fans via internet (only off the IIHF web site)

As such, we strongly urge the respective leagues to ratify this proposal at their convention by January and to inform the IIHF for their decision.
