Mandatory Helmet use in the State of Karnataka, India

Dear Mr. Brahm Dutt

By this petition, I am requesting, supporting and encouraging you to implement notification requiring mandatory use of Helmets by ALL motorised two-wheeler riders, including pillions, immediately.

Various medical studies conducted by national institutions like NIMHANS and by the State Health Task Force constituted under the chairmanship of Dr. H. Sudarshan, have shown that over 85% of fatal road accidents involving two-wheelers are due to head injuries and that the mandatory use of ISI specification helmets is an immediate priority to reduce these unnecessary deaths.

"Optional use" implementation measures have proved ineffective and have only resulted in an increase in fatalities. Therefore the mandatory helmet use rule must be implemented immediately without delay.

I fully support the implementation of the mandatory helmet rule for ALL occupants of ALL motorised two-wheelers, ALL over the state of Karnataka.
