Rename 97th Street to Heroes Boulevard, Edmonton

To:  Mayor Mandel & City Council

We, the undersigned, petition to have 97th Street from Jasper Avenue to the Edmonton Garrison renamed as Heroes Boulevard because we believe that all military personnel and their families are heroes for the sacrifices they make for citizens of Canada and the world.

Randy Crowell came up with this idea in hopes of leaving a lasting impression here in Edmonton and show appreciation for all the soldiers and the help they are doing overseas and right here at home.

This would be the ultimate tribute to our military past and present that have traveled this route to and from Edmonton to various campaigns all around the world and home again.

More Canadian soldiers are lost every year and the soldiers that return home should have a tribute to ensure they are all remembered. This being when they are away, as well as when they are home here in Edmonton, or wherever home may be. This also gives Edmontonians the opportunity to show their support for the troops and their families as a whole, showing they are appreciated while overseas and not forgotten.

Edmonton soldiers play a big role overseas and here in Edmonton. Randy Crowell states, “I think that a lasting thank you, regardless of your political stance, to anyone willing to go to these combat zones so willingly, is timely.”
