THE MOONLIGHT SIGNING PETITION

On July 21, at 00:01, there will be celebratory event in London entitled “The Moonlight Signing”. Our favourite author, J.K. Rowling, will be present, while the publishers [Bloomsbury and Scholastic] have prepared contests for fans to join in with the magical celebration of the year. However, not all fans are invited: even though Bloomsbury and Scholastic sell their books worldwide, fans residing in non-English countries are excluded from the event.
Moreover, not all fans from the USA will have the chance to attend the event either, since only fans aged 21 years or under will be able to attend; even though most readers that have been fans from the beginning of the saga exceed this age.
Because of this reason, we ask Bloomsbury, Scholastic and the other English publishers to amend their contest regulations, so that all fans have the same chance to meet J.K. Rowling; we consider that the actual conditions discriminatory towards most readers.
We hope you consider our petition.

El próximo 21 de Julio a las 00:01 se celebrará en Londres el evento “The Moonlight Signing”. Nuestra escritora favorita J.K. Rowling estará presente y las editoriales Bloomsbury y Scholastic han preparado concursos para que los fans puedan asistir a la celebración más mágica del año. Sin embargo, no todos los fans de Harry Potter están invitados: a pesar de que Bloomsbury y Scholastic venden sus libros en prácticamente todos los países del mundo, los fans de países de habla no inglesa quedan absolutamente excluidos de asistir al evento.
Por si fuera poco, tampoco todos los fans de Estados Unidos tienen oportunidad de participar en el concurso: sólo los menores de 21 años podrán hacerlo, quedando fuera todos los demás. La mayoría de lectores que son fans desde hace el inicio de la saga supera esa edad, pero ninguno de ellos podrá asistir al evento de Londres.
Por eso pedimos a Bloomsbury, Scholastic y demás editoriales de habla inglesa que revisen las restricciones del concurso, para que todos los fans puedan tener las mismas posibilidades de conocer a J.K. Rowling. Consideramos que con las condiciones actuales se discrimina a gran parte de los lectores, que desean de todo corazón asistir a “The Moonlight Signing”.
Rogamos tomen en cuenta nuestra petición.
