Consideration of Regional Impacts in Kingston, NY Waterfront Development Approval Process

To:  City of Kingston, NY Planning Department

We, the undersigned citizens of the Hudson Valley, petition the City of Kingston (NY) Planning Department and the City of Kingston (NY) Common Council to take a regional approach to determining the approval of the proposed “Sailor’s Cove” and “The Landing” Waterfront developments and to include consideration of these projects’ potentially harmful impacts on the following:

- Parking at the already-at-full-capacity Rhinecliff-Kingston, NY Amtrak Station

- Traffic on narrow and historic River Road in the Town of Rhinebeck, NY leading to the Amtrak Station

- Traffic and quality of life issues in the hamlet of Rhinecliff, NY

- Viewsheds of the Federally-designated Hudson River National Historic Landmark District, which is directly across the river from both proposed developments.
