Dear "mobile me" developers!

The transformation of dotMac into "mobile me" introduces some thrilling new features we dotMac users, and not only the iPhone owners, are eagerly anticipating.

Unfortunately some dotMac feature falls victim to this modernization, amongst them the iCards. It's not only that we dotMac users prefer to send iCards instead of other eCards because they are there. Just like our mac.com email address we use it to present ourselves as Mac users. Plus, we add some individuality and style to our daily email communication.

For some the iCards may seem a bit banal or humble. The don't move, they don't make a sound. They are just cards. But they surely stand out against most of their moving, music playing, tasteless and loveless competitors. And don't forget the possibility to personalize those eCards even further by adding your own photos. Who isn't pleased to get such a simple thing as an iCard from time to time as a small token of love, friendship or sympathy.

So please, "mobile me" team, don't sacrifice our beloved iCards for a little more webspace to post screencasts, blogs or to synchronize our lives. We want that of course. But we love our iCards, too. Even a mobile me wants to send just a simple card from time to time.

Liebe „mobile me“ Entwickler!

Mit der Umstellung von .Mac auf mobile me werden einige, sehr interessante und nützliche Funktionen eingeführt, auf die wir .Mac Benutzer uns sehr freuen, nicht nur die iPhone Besitzer unter uns.

Jedoch ist es sehr schade, dass dieser Modernisierung ein so traditionsreicher Dienst wie die iCards zum Opfer fallen soll. Nicht zuletzt waren und sind die iCards nicht nur die bevorzugten eCards für Tausende von .Mac Nutzern. Für uns sind die iCards auch ein willkommenes Mittel, mit so etwas schlichtem und klassischem wie der eCard Flagge zu zeigen, uns als Mac-User zu präsentieren und unserer Email Kommunikation ein Quäntchen Individualität und Stil hinzuzufügen.

Die iCards mögen für viele recht banal wirken, bewegungslos und stumm wie sie sind, doch zeigen sie in dieser Form mehr Format als die meisten bewegten, vertonten, geschmack- und lieblosen Varianten anderer Anbieter. Und vergessen wir auch nicht die Möglichkeit, jeder iCard unseren persönlichen Stempel aufzudrücken. Wer freut sich nicht ab und zu über eine schöne eCard, die beweist, dass jemand an einen denkt.

Also bitte, liebes „mobile me“ Team, opfert unsere geliebten iCards nicht dem Zeitalter der multimedialen Selbstdarstellung, der Welt der Screencasts, Blogs und iPhones. Lasst uns diesen coolen und stilvollen eCards für die Gelegenheiten, bei denen wir nicht mit dem iPhone telefonieren, unsere Home Videos verschicken oder unser ganzes Leben synchronisieren möchten.

Auch unserer „mobiles Ich“ möchte nicht darauf verzichten, ab und zu eine einfache Karte zu verschicken.
