Sheldon Silver Must Resign as Speaker

Petition Calling for the Resignation Of Sheldon Silver as Speaker of the Assembly

We the undersigned residents of New York State, demand the resignation of Sheldon Silver as Speaker of the Assembly for the New York State Legislature.

Whereas Assemblyman Silver has usurped authority from our elected delegates, effectively leaving the New York State Electorate without proper representation;

He has unlawfully circumvented Constitutional provisions, effectively gaining control of all legislation, all committees, and all chairmanships of said committees;

As such, Assemblyman Silver unethically manages member’s re-election funds and member items, including district funding initiatives, district offices, staff and office equipment, to the extent that the withholding and rewarding of such items inhibits
the proper execution of the office holder’s responsibilities;

Assemblyman Silver has not only presided over, but has formulated policy and passed legislation that has grossly inflated an inefficient and unaccountable government, exponentially increased the burden on New York State taxpayers to sustain this system, and forced viable businesses and families, unable to withstand such oppressive taxation and regulation, to relocate out-of-state;

He has caused prodigious and immeasurable injury to millions of citizens by obstructing any efforts to reform, and as such, we the people of New York State, find Assemblyman Sheldon Silver derelict in his duties, and unfit to serve any longer.
