IMAP facility for Gmail

This is to petition Google to add IMAP facility to Gmail. Many people have gmail accounts but webmail is not that convenient for them.

They want an offline copy of their mails too. POP3 is not suitable because of the large amount of space Gmail offers. IMAP is the best choice and hopefully Google will implement it soon.

Google can provide IMAP as a value added feature for those who need it for 5-10 $ a year while continuing to provide the free webmail service.
