Illinois Fuel Tax

We, the licensed drivers of the State of Illinois have banded together to request the Illinois State Government to stop charging fuel tax in the State of Illinois until fuel prices are brought back down to an affordable level.

Currently, the State of Illinois charges as follows:

Motor Fuel Tax - gasoline/gasohol – $0.19 per gallon, diesel fuel – $0.215 per gallon, combustible gases – $0.215 per gallon

Motor Fuel Use Tax - gasoline/gasohol – $0.343 per gallon, diesel fuel – $0.375 cents per gallon, combustible gases – $0.305 per gallon

Environmental Impact Fee - $0.008 per gallon sold

Underground Storage - $0.003 per gallon of fuel

If these taxes were not charged during this time of crisis, the average driver would be able to save $5.00 or more per tank of gas. The average long haul truck driver would be able to save $65.00 or more per fill up.

We, the licensed drivers of the State of Illinois request that these taxes not be charged so that we may once again be able to afford adding fuel to our tanks which allows us to get to work, drive our children to school, get food to feed our families and pick up and deliver the goods that our communities are in need of.
