Throughout history, Iran has been a great country, famous for its tolerant people who respect all other races, ethnic groups, and people with different religions and languages. Iran has played an important role in the history of mankind by treating all races and religions with an equal and high regard. Iran has been the largest and most powerful empire in history, under the rule of Cyrus the Great and Darius the Great.

While the Universal Declaration of Human Rights were first addressed in 1948 in France, according to the United Nations, Cyrus the Greats cylinder was the first human rights document, issued by Cyrus the Great, the Achaemenid Persian Emperor in 539 B.C. After millenniums and being impressed by Iran's historical roots, Iranians continue to seek peace and equality for everyone, regardless of descent and ethnic and religious backgrounds.

Since the introduction of the Internet, Iranians have taken part and been an active society on the internet by publishing forums, weblogs and websites. Iran is among the top three countries with most published weblogs. According to Internet World Stats, half of all internet users in Middle East are from Iran.

Yahoo! Answers has created a great online community that shares knowledge and different opinions. But while there are categories representing almost all cultures, countries and cities, unfortunately there is no separate category for Iran on Yahoo! Answers.

Considering the statements above, and appreciating the efforts of Yahoo! for providing such a possibility for users from various cultures and with different opinions, we, the signers of this petition, appeal to Yahoo! Answers Administration to add a distinct category for Iran.

We believe this can create the chance for Iranians to introduce their culture and country to the world, and also for everyone to discuss the current events in Iran.
