It’s time we ignored all those false issues that are at the forefront of the headlines in America today and focused on a real problem that has gone on too long. The fact that United States celebrates St. Patrick’s Day is an absolute disgrace, please read on as to why that is. St. Patrick was a fictional Irish icon from folklore. He has absolutely nothing to do with what helped shape this great country. Simply put, St. Patrick is nothing more than a work of Irish fiction that is celebrated in his own American holiday, something even our most cherished icons do not even have.

To counter this travesty I am not asking that we abandon what has become our very own tradition. I am not asking for a boycott. I am not here to change how this holiday is celebrated. What I am asking for is an even exchange. I am asking that in exchange for us devoting an entire day to St. Patrick that Ireland celebrates one of our icons. I am asking that Ireland makes an official holiday in celebration of one of the greatest American icons, Arthur Fonzarelli, popularly known as “FONZIE” or “THE FONZ”.

That’s right. January 15th on the Irish calendar will become the official holiday to commemorate the feats accomplished by Fonzie. That is the date in which “Happy Days” debuted on the air. While in the United States we celebrate St. Patrick chasing all the snakes out of Ireland, over in Ireland they can celebrate Fonzie jumping the shark. While we here back in the United States dress in green and decorated in shamrocks, over in Ireland they can wear a leather jacket, t-shirt, and jeans. Fonzie is a true American icon that should be celebrated in Ireland. He deserves a parade filled with motorcycles and 50s nostalgia as much as St. Patrick deserves a parade here.

After we accumulate enough signatures, steps will be made to see to it that it reaches the government of Ireland in hopes we can make this happen!

Please join the crusade to get Fonzie his own Irish holiday on January 15th of each and every year by signing this petition. Thank you.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
