Please Sell Lossless Files at the iTunes Music Store |
To: Apple Computer, Inc.Dear Apple,
Please consider offering lossless files at the iTunes music store.
Several independent distributors provide music from artists who would be happy to sell their music in this format, and it could pave the way to a strong future in digital downloads.
Many people who have not embraced iTunes have done it entirely because of audio quality. The convenient 128k or 256k AAC versions may be a fine alternative on mid-priced headphones through the iPod, but it isn't a good enough alternative to CDs that can be purchased (sometimes at a very competitive rate) from Amazon and the like.
Please consider the fact that you would be educating the younger generations by obliterating lossy codecs, which take the magic out of the recordings, rendering them lifeless and 2-Dimensional.
Lossless is the way forward, it is for Blu-Ray film soundtracks - and music. Downloaded files in lossless format can be listened to on a decent hi-fi system as the engineer and artist intended.
Please pass this up through the appropriate channels. I feel there are many more people like me who feel the same. Although I've spent a great deal at the iTMS - I would spend more and with confidence, if I could download and buy lossless music.
Thank you very much for your timeSincerely,
