In November 2007 Israel Izzy Clayton suffered a rare neurological disorder which left him paralysed for a period of 3 months and caused him to miss approximately 7 weeks of college. He has been recently suspended from his course at Dartington College of Arts as it is considered he would not be able to succeed in the second semester due to the gap in his learning experience.
Izzy is keen to continue his studies and has offered to catch up on the work he has missed. Despite the fact that grades from first year modules do not contribute towards the final mark of the degree, the college has insisted that he return in September 2008 to begin his first year of Theatre again, putting him in further debt with the student loans company.
As Izzy is no longer considered to be a current student he has been removed from his position of warden held at the student accommodation which has forced him to become homeless.
We the undersigned support Israel Claytons appeal against the colleges decision. We ask that he be allowed to return to his studies immediately and urge the accommodation service to provide him with a place of residence.
