Taxpayers against Tax Grabs

To:  Premier Dalton McGuinty

Dear Honorable Premier of Ontario,

As taxpayers, we are appalled at your new budget which is scheduled to take effect June of 2010. More specifically, there are dozens upon dozens of new products and services that may rise by 8% with your proposed changes

As you know, here's a list of goods and services that may rise by an estimated eight per cent with the change:

1. Newspapers
2. Magazines under subscription;
3. Taxi
4. Bus fares
5. Airplane and train fares
6. Gasoline & diesel fuel
7. Propane
8. Residential electricity
9. Natural gas
10.Firewood
11.Campground site fees
12.Home Internet Services
13.Certain residential Energy Star appliances
14.Vitamins
15.Gym and fitness memberships
16.Sports programs i.e Soccer/Hockey enrollment
17.Bicycles (and related safety equipment) costing less than $1,000;
18.Accounting services
19.Legal Services
20.Real Estate Services
21.Certain financial services fees
22.Construction labour including home building and renovation labour
23.Car towing services
24.Grass cutting or maintenance programs
25.Snow removal services
26.Real Christmas trees purchased in December
27.Pet grooming and veterinary services

Another major problem is that a single person earning less $80,000.00 per year will only be entitled to a $300 annual credit and only a $1000.00 annual credit for families earning less than $160,000.00. The latter amount is too low to offset the additional day to day costs and the single person is not compensated fairly.

Please retract and/or repair this poorly thought out budget or we will legistlate it at the voting polls.
