Twin Legislation for Texas |
The Governor has signed the Texas Twin Bill into law!! It goes into effect immediately so, parents who are currently registering their multiples will not run into opposition with the law now in place. Please contact http://twinslaw.com/Texas.html for more information.
To: Texas SenatorsWe, the undersigned, encourage you to pass legislation much like the “Twin Bill” passed in Minnesota by Senator Dennis Frederickson. This bill, signed into law by Governor Tim Pawlently on May 5, 2005, gives the parents/guardians of multiple birth children the ability to decide whether to separate them into different classrooms. Illinois also recently passed a similar bill and the Oklahoma House of Representatives passed a resolution that recommends school districts take into account parents’ requests. We ask for legislation that gives parents/guardians the primary voice in the classroom placement of their multiple birth children. With the increase of multiple birth children continuing to rise, this is an issue that will only gain more exposure and validity. We ask that Texas introduce and pass legislation to reflect these parental rights and be among the early-adopter states in equality for multiple birth children and their parents.
Sincerely,
