Petition to Congress and President Barack Obama.

To: Congress and President Barack Obama.

I----------------, citizen of the United States of America petition the government of the United States to reconsider the (Human Rights) violations aimed at colonizing the Island nation of Puerto Rico and it's sons and daughters. Since the ilegal invasion of July 25, 1898 the people of Puerto Rico have been subordinates of the United States of America. The continued oversight by the congress to review the colonial relationship with the people of Puerto Rico has created an uncertain future for the Island nation. We do not enjoy the plenary powers that other nations enjoy under international law. Under the territorial clause of the constitution of the United States (Article 4, section 3, clause 2); the government of the United States should start the process of decolonization granted to so many nations during the past century, during the decade of the 70's.

Puerto Rico and it's people have the support of the international community to allow for the transfer of powers so that we may control our own destiny. To establish a government that will serve the needs of it's people and to develope an economy that will enable our nation to enter the global community. It is time for Puerto Rico to grow as an independent nation. The cold war is over and we should no longer be considered a booty of war as stated in the "Treaty of Paris".

"The congress has the power to set the rules and regulations to allow for the transition to be effectiv in a manner beneficial to both nations".

With this petition i also express the birthright given to all nations under international law to enjoy their sovereignty and to control their destinies.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
