JVibe's Call for a Jewish Grammy |
To: The Recording AcademyCurrently, there are 107 different Grammy award categories. And of those 107 awards, at least six are handed out each year for Christian-themed music. We think it's great that those who record inspirational Christian music are recognized by the Recording Academy. However, we feel its time for the Jewish voice to be heard!
We are hoping to start a grassroots effort in support of the many deserving musicians across the globe who we think deserve their own Grammy category and award---For modern Jewish music. We are seeking the creation of a "Best Jewish Album" category or something similar in next year's Grammy Awards.
According to the Recording Academy website, Grammy.com, "A Grammy is awarded by and to artists and technical professionals for artistic or technical achievement, not sales or chart positions." By these standards, there are hundreds of musicians recording modern Jewish music today who merit Grammy recognition.
We hope that you, the Recording Academy, will heed our call for a Jewish Grammy today!
Sincerely,
