It is a new war on American families. I think we are talking about something the American people have never seen before, which is our government removing parents from homes and leaving American children with missing parents. American children who have their parents removed often forces children into our welfare programs which cost the American taxpayer. Remember, parents are the best tool to keep children out of poverty, not government programs. U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement and many of our politicians are playing a numbers game with no consideration to our children. Once again our American children are put in last place. American children are losing their parents and finding themselves devastated in single-parent homes. I know this story because my daughter is losing her mom. I am an American and so are my three children.
History
After knowing Teresa’s mom for a few years we decided to get married. It was legal to marry my wife in Texas. After we married, my wife received a legal work permit, Social Security Number, and a Texas Driver’s License. Now years later, we have a little girl running around in the house calling me “Daddy” and U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement has orders to remove “Mom” from our home and send her to China. This action leaves Teresa (five years old) with no mother. It leaves me with no wife. Teresa‘s mom will not be considered by the United States to return home.
Due to imposed unprincipled acts by communist China. Teresa's mom was forced to flee China in 2000. Teresa's mom filed her case in U.S. court seeking asylum that same year. During her last and final appeal in 2005 the judge ruled against Teresa's mom, even though the judge knew that Teresa's mom would undoubtedly face severe punishment in China for fleeing. Having American children, an American husband, and absolutely no criminal record was still not a valid enough reason to allow Teresa's mom to remain in the United States. Teresa's mom now has orders to leave the United States with no appeals.
You must ask yourself: “What does it take to become an American?” Starting in 2000 Teresa’s mom has spent a fortune on lawyers in a futile attempt to become an American. Teresa’s mom is married to a U.S. citizen, has American children, has no criminal record of any kind, received a legal work permit, a Social Security number, a Texas driver’s license, and also has an approved I-130 from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security/U.S. Citizenship and Immigration. She has done everything in her power to become a American. However, not enough to satisfy our federal government. Orders to remove her from her family still stands.
Teresa is five years old. Today I am asking you to give her the simple freedom and privilege to live with her mom. Teresa’s mom has an important job in America, being Teresa’s mom. Our only chance we have to keep our family together is to have a private bill presented to congress on behalf of Teresa’s mom.
