Save Tonto!

To:  Classic Media and Columbia Pictures

We the undersigned respectfully request that the role of Tonto be played by a Native American man in the upcoming Lone Ranger movie. It has been rumored that the character would be portrayed as a woman. We strongly feel that would be a mistake and disrespectful to the integrity of an American icon. It would also be an insult to the fans who have high expectations as to what the Lone Ranger and Tonto stand for. Additionally, the part of Tonto has always been played on film by Native Americans (and one Canadian). We urge you to uphold that tradition.
