PEOPLE'S PETITION
MEMORANDUM
To : YAB DATO'SERI ABDULLAH AHMAD BADAWI, PRIME MINISTER OF MALAYSIA.
From : CONCERNED MUSLIM CITIZENS OF MALAYSIA.
Date : 4th March 2009
SUBJECT: APPEAL TO DISALLOW THE USE OF THE WORD "ALLAH" BY NON MUSLIM.
Yang Amat Berhormat,
WE, the concerned Muslim citizens of Malaysia, are steadfast and guided by the belief in fairness and social justice and the provisions in the Federal Constitution of Malaysia that allows the freedom of religion of it's citizens. As stated in the constitution, Islam is also the Official Religion of Malaysia.
We hereby implore the wisdom and conscience of YAB Datuk Seri to support the Home Ministry's decision to ban non-Muslims from using the word "Allah" in referring to their God in their publications and their preachings. This is, as history has shown, the word "ALLAH" has never been used before by the non-Muslims in Malaysia to refer to "God" in their publications. The repercussions of allowing non-Muslims to use the word "Allah" might bring:
1. Unnecessary uneasiness and suspicions between the majority Muslims and other religions in Malaysia
2. Unwarranted confusion amongst the dominant races in Malaysia, leading up to religious hostility.
WE, humbly appeal to the conscience and the wisdom of YAB to reconsider
the decision of the Home Ministry so that we can continue to belief in
the fairness of the government.
WE, the concerned Muslim citizens of Malaysia, humbly appeal that the
Christians NOT to be allowed to use the word "ALLAH" in Bahasa Malaysia to refer to "GOD" in English
Sincerely,
The Undersigned
