Lambert Park is one of the oldest soccer grounds in Australia and has years of tradition associated with it. It is the premier soccer venue for the Leichhardt area and is heavily used by the local community. Sydney Metro now wants to take over Lambert Park and use it as a Metro construction site, despite the fact that Leichhardt Council has offered Metro a suitable site only 200 metres away from Lambert Park.
