Petition against the distorted and reduced Anti-Discrimination Bill (2007) of South Korea |
To: The Government of South KoreaWe are strongly against the distorted and reduced Anti-Discrimination Bill (2007) of South Korea.
If the final draft of the bill is passed as it is, it will cause even more severe discrimination against social minorities including sexual minorities in South Korea. We want our LGBT friends to be able to live in peace and to enjoy equality without being discriminated against on the grounds of their sexual orientations and/or gender identities and South Korea to be a country that actively protects the human rights of minority groups and the socially weak.
So, please re-include in the final draft of the bill the seven deleted categories (sexual orientation, educational status, family type and status, medical history, national origin, language, and criminal and detention record) as well as that of gender identity, which was deleted altogether from the very first draft of the bill.
Please do not let the bill become a de facto Pro-Discrimination Act but, instead, create a truly inclusive Anti-Discrimination Act to guarantee equality and justice for all.Sincerely,
