I received an email earlier today which linked to a Guardian article about the horrific abuse of lions, tigers and horses at a zoo in china:

Though some of you may think I would be more likely to be laughing at this sort of thing, but I take exception when innocent animals are used in this wasteful manner when, unlike humans, they just strive to be what they are and don't go around killing the planet and each other, in the process.
It describes how lions are forced to ride on the back of horses around a circus ring, for the amusement of the crowds around them. No freedom, no dignity and forced into a completely cruel relationship away from their natural habitat. They even have their teeth removed so they can't attack their beast of burden. What a waste. I wept as I read the story and thought "what is the world coming to that we humans have stooped to this for entertainment?"
Sign the petition today to put an end to this madness. This isn't just on DSI, but will be a nationwide, nay worldwide, campaign to call the Chinese government to account over this disgusting abuse.
The big question is why are the lives of these lions being wasted in a circus when they could sent back to their natural habitat, in the desert, to be used as the most terrifying military force known to man since the invention of the atomic bomb?
We are asking the government to lobby Chinese to give up all trained lions and lion trainers to create a new British army regiment, the 1st Lion Cavalry Brigade. They should be sent to Iraq to finish those insurgent fuckers off once and for all so we can bring our boys home from Iraq in time for Easter. They would be trained to charge in large groups, teeth fully intact of course, towards towns still occupied by normal and Shite Muslim militia groups.
What would be more dignified for these majestic beasts, these Kings of the jungle? To lie in a cage, under the gaze of hordes of spotty school children, or to die on the battlefield defending the empire?
Sign our petition today and release these lions back into the wild to their natural habitat in the desert.
