The Gardiner Expressway is a major thoroughfare into Downtown Toronto, allowing commuters convenient access into the heart of the city. Current plans call for the destruction of this highway between Jarvis and the Don Valley Parkway, a corridor that connects Downtown Toronto with the north and east regions of the city, and for it to be replaced with condos and a multi-lane boulevard that will make lives difficult for both drivers and pedestrians.

The undersigned feel that this is the wrong approach for development of the eastern waterfront. We believe that condos can be built along the east side of Queens Quay like on the west side, that pedestrian bridges should be built to allow people to cross Lake Shore Boulevard with ease, and that the passing lane of the Gardiner Expressway be reserved for buses (including the author's proposed "Downtown Rocket" bus routes) and vehicles carrying at least 4 people to encourage carpooling into the city.
