Las Vegas NBA Team

To:  Mayor of Las Vegas

Las Vegas residents and Nevada residents,

Don’t you agree that we are ready to not only support a NBA team, but we are ready an able to make an NBA franchise flourish here in Las Vegas, Nevada. The people of this State and residents in Clark County are ready to have a sports team to be proud of and to have the opportunity to attend games.

The facts are is there are approximately 2,000,000 residents living in Clark County alone, which is more then enough to fill up an arena for an NBA team. Las Vegas is a basketball city. An example is our love of the UNLV Runnin' Rebels. We already see the USA team play at the Thomas & Mack. We’ve also hosted the NBA All Star in 2007. This town is ready.

People bring up the problem of betting on the home team and the influence I may have on the outcome of games. This is not a problem when you apply the old Rebel rule where you take the game off of all betting boards. People don’t see to see how easy that would be.

We can see we are ready for an NBA team. Mayor Oscar Goodman has been outspoken in his efforts and it is time the people of Las Vegas join him. The more people we can have sign this we can show NBA owners we want a team.This petition will be given to Mayor Oscar Goodman to present to NBA owners.

The issue of a stadium would be answered if a team verbally said that wanted to make Las Vegas home. Right now there are plans to build an arena even without a team committed to Las Vegas. Even if a team was to move without a arena completed we have the facilities to host temporary games if need be, just two examples are the Orleans arena and the Thomas & Mack. They may not have the 30,000 seats but they have more then enough seats to accommodate a crowd larger then teams such as the Grizzles and Sonics had this past 2008 season.
When signing the petition it is recommended to make it public for others to see, but it isn't required.

Do your part and sign the petition and get an NBA team here in Las Vegas.
