This is a petition to stand against the special assessment on the mail box project, as illustrated in the letter from Board of Directors, Creekside at the Estates of Inverness Ridge (February 12, 2009). The letter does not provide any opportunity for homeowners to vote for or against the mailbox replacement proposal.

We deem this unnecessary for the following reasons:

1. We live in a gated community where traffic is significantly less than that of other typical streets. The mailboxes would not be installed in the first place if there was any code violation in regard to safety.

2. The Board failed to substantiate that installing new mail boxes was in the interest of the MAJORITY of homeowners. The Board should have let us to know how many homeowners wanted mailboxes changed, not just simply claiming a majority.

3. The proposed mailbox installation does NOT mirror those in Toll Brothers community, since two mail boxes are to be mounted on one single post.

4. The price tag seems very high and we were not informed of the contractors who participated in the bid and their prices. However, on average, we are to pay for one post with two metal boxes for $1000.

5. The current severe economic condition does NOT warrant such pricey ¡°improvement¡±. The business is at the lowest in many decades. Many companies nearby are cutting employee¡¯s salaries and/or laying-off workers. For some homeowners, their jobs could be at risk or they could be on a brink of missing mortgage payment.

6. The special assessment on such lavish spending could encourage future assessment on new projects, not in the interest of the MAJORITY of homeowners as well. Higher assessment will discourage new buyers of houses in the community and consequently further reduce the property values.

We do not intend to offend anyone or cause any kind of inconvenience. This is only something that we feel attention needs to be brought upon.

If you agree, please sign this petition and make your feelings known. For privacy consideration, you could just use the initial of your street name when identifying your home address (i.e. A101, M601, K025 or R071). Our mailboxes were just installed within a year or so and they do not need to be replaced now. Thank you for your support.
