Save The Malta Bus |
To: The Transport Ministry; The Governement of MaltaThe iconic Malta bus...some see them just for the things they are; old bangers belcing black smoke down the streets of Malta. But there is more to these old buses than meets the eye.
They are most probably the most photographed bus in the world (http://www.flickr.com/groups/buscoachmalta/). They have been around since the dawn of Malta's transport history. They have become a legend in their own right.
The Maltese Government is currently proposing a re-haul of Malta's Public Transport system. The Malta Bus will soon pass away into the history books. (http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20091017/local/most-of-the-current-buses-cannot-be-used-following-reform).
I, like most others, do agree with rehauling the service (new routes, better standards, etc) and this does not mean that we have to have modern buses on our roads.
Old buses can be refitted to modern standards and equipped with modern, efficient engines.
I hope that you will sign and help to hopefully save The Malta Bus.
Sincerely,
