Failing ATI X1600 in Apple MacBook Pro

We, the owner's of the first-generation MacBook Pro (circa 2006) are suffering from an inherent defect with our units. This defect, is currently being experienced by hundreds of your users and can be attributed to a failing ATI X1600 graphics chip on the logic board. Our attempts to contact you and resolve this matter amicably have been fruitless. Most of our units are no longer under warranty and this issue manifests itself long after the initial warranty has expired. We are being asked by your support agents and other staff to pay a repair cost of over $1,000 USD for this issue. This is completely unfair, and unethical.

The problem is so grave and grand in scale that it is rendering a large number of the units completely unusable only three short years from their purchase date. Other units continue to function, albeit barely. The screen is littered with "artifacts" attributed to the failing chip in question. The "artifacts" include: horizontal distortion lines, display tearing, green bands on videos, system-wide freezes, among countless other problems.

We, as owners of these units are requesting that you launch a Repair Program to address this issue and repair our units at no cost to us. We feel that this is a fair and ethical manner in which to resolve this very grave situation.
