Rescind new MCPS Family Life Curriculum

PETITION TO THE MCPS BOARD OF EDUCATION

We the undersigned endorse the following petition:
The Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Board of Education should rescind its Nov. 9, 2004 vote to accept curriculum changes proposed by the Citizen’s Advisory Committee on Family Life and Human Development. The proposed curriculum is flawed in that it:

1. Presents sexual variations, including homosexuality, in a morally neutral and values-free way;
2. Encourages adolescents to determine their sexual orientation;
3. Redefines family;
4. Lacks a strong abstinence message.

We strongly disapprove of this curriculum, and the new video that graphically demonstrates condom use.
