On behalf of EMAAR Properties, I would like to congratulate you on your decision to buy an Emaar Home at The Meadows – the upscale residential community which symbolizes Premier Location and Premier Living.

At Emaar we pride ourselves in offering you the best in lifestyle and community living in the region.

The Petition,

This petition is created to get your support and awareness of the road safety of the Meadows communities. These communities should be safe for any child, pedestrian, jogger, cyclist or mothers with a stroller. In contrary these Meadows community streets are VERY dangerous, maybe more dangerous than the Sheikh Zayed road.

Why?

The Meadows invite us to enjoy the community area, go out and enjoy the parks, streets and lakes, however;

• Residents and visitors like to speed here, while speed limit is only 25Kph,
• You will not see any police here and there are no speed camera’s,
• You can joyride or borrow your mother’s car for some community driving fun, unpunished.
• You can ride your off road bike to test or just have some wild fun.
• You can break traffic or community, nobody cares, well almost nobody.

Ach, the few minor speeds humps can easily be taken by any 4x4 and even sedan’s, you won’t feel anything as long as you go fast over it. The pedestrians can walk around the parked cars on the pedestrian path ways, right? Where else can we park?

Emaar reacted recently to my complaints and placed some new signs to remind the residents of the speed limit of 25kph in the community and that parking on the pavements is a violation. Was any violation reported by Emaar, well probable none because many cars are still parked on the pavements. They did mention to me in an email that road safety was not their responsibility but one for RTA. Easy and done!?!? I do not accept this answer and hopefully you as well. Emaar has designed this community and these roads and not RTA!

To make these community streets safer Emaar needs to investigate, improve and implement;
• Designated parking areas.
• Cars should not be able to park on the pedestrian paths ways.
• Speed should be more controlled by the way the roads are designed.
• Proper Speed humps at the right location and wider to slow down speedy 4x4’s.
• More speed humps.
• Parks and playing areas should be fenced.

My children narrowly escaped an accident by a resident in hurry and not long ago by some minors speeding in their father’s car. Other residents with children had similar encounters.

Do we want to risk the lives of our children or anyone on our streets? Do you want to ruin your life because it was you speeding and killing these pedestrians or kids?
