National War on Terror Medal of Honor Day |
To: U.S GovernmentWE THE PEOPLE of the United States would like to have a National Day set aside to recognize the four brave men who have fought for our FREEDOMS in the War on Terror and were awarded the Medal of Honor.
WE THE PEOPLE would like to recognize and cherish the memory of:
Paul R. Smith, Army, Sergeant First Class, a man who held off around one hundred enemies, so his wounded would live. He was awarded the Medal of Honor posthumously.
Jason Dunham, a Corporal in the Marine Corp, who selflessly hurled himself on a live grenade to protect fellow Marines. In a split second he made a decision costing him his life so others would live. He was awarded the Medal of Honor posthumously.
Michael A. Monsoor, Petty Officer Second Class, who died to save others lives. He choose to jump on a live grenade to save two others instead of fleeing the rooftop through a door right next to him. He was awarded the Medal of Honor posthumously.
Lieutenant Michael P. Murphy of the Navy who showed amazing courage and leadership during a reconnaissance mission to locate a top level Taliban leader. He fought with more strength than ever could of be asked from him. He was awarded the Medal of Honor posthumously.
Because We The People are concerned with the lack of recognition given to these four men we feel the LEAST we can do as Americans is to honor their sacrifice with a national day in addition to Veterans Day and Memorial Day. We The People believe that if the American people have a day designed to remember the stories and sacrifices of these men it will increase patriotism and respect for the Armed Services as a whole.
In addition, these four soldiers will not be just another name on the causalities list, but a living memory of what freedom cost.
Sincerely,
