Call for postponement of driving restrictions

We believe that the proposed new restrictions and penalties on drivers with provisional licenses driving while unaccompanied should be postponed until such time as the following measures have been implemented

a) that driving tests can be obtained in all areas of the country within 3 weeks of an application being received,
b) that certification must be required of all instructors to ensure an even standard of instruction is available
c) that those working as testers are assessed on a frequent basis in a transparent manner to ensure an even quality of assessment.

Until such time as these measures necessary to ensuring good driving education and assessment are introduced, we demand that the introduction of these restrictions be postponed immediately.
