We, the undersigned, concerned citizens of Prince Georges County urge our leaders to adopt Legislation for Parental Assistance Programs. Our government is assisting foreign and USA companies who are on the brink of failure but allowing the children to fall short. We see in the news our children are bombarded with all types of dilemmas that can disrupt their growing processes. Children do best when parents are enabled to provide the nurturing and problem solving skills so that their child can conduct themselves appropriately in school, and later in life. All parents want to best for their children they may not have the tools to provide what their child needs. Within the educational system participation of parents is low, and extremely low with parents is who are economically disadvantaged. Obtaining governmental and school resources parents can be propelled in the right direction. As stakeholders we declare that we need better continuity of resources (property, goods, funding) between the Prince Georges County government agencies to aid when family assistance is sought. We believe the every school should promote partnerships that increase parental involvement that will assist in the social, emotional and academic growth of our children.
