We petition against the implementation of Glasgow City Councils Order: Parking Controls West of City Centre (implementation summer 2005), which we believe affects very adversely the life of city residents, their visitors, essential small businesses, medical services and carers of housebound disabled citizens.
While recognising the need to control the daily parking of cars by commuters, we call for a system of controls to be introduced which does not penalise the citizens of Glasgow or disrupt community life (as this order does).
We the undersigned call upon the Scottish Government to force Glasgow City Council to stop the imposition of this order which we believe to be socially unjust in many ways.
We ask the Scottish Government to ensure that Glasgow City Council allows time for democratic consultation to take place (which we believe has not occurred hitherto). We call for citizens affected by the order to be involved fully in the decision making process.
