This is a proposal for the AKAI Professional Company to remedy design flaws in the sensor pads on the MPC-1000 machine. The MPC-1000, AKAIs top selling hardware sampler, is the only machine to use pads developed by AKAI. All other MPC machines, even the inferior MPC-500, have pads designed by Interlink Electronics.
The Interlink Electronics pads provide the feel that made the MPC line of equipment famous, a feel that is lacking on the MPC-1000.
AKAI describes the MPC-1000 pads as, Great-feeling, velocity and pressure sensitive pads for expressive programming, however, the pads on the MPC-1000 are known throughout the music production industry as the exact opposite.
From the induction of the MPC-1000 to today, users are constantly faced with ill-performing pads, sensors that do not work, and the complete lack of factory replacement parts.
As owners and supporters of the MPC-1000, we demand a better pad design, and compensation for our lost time, money, and faulty product.
