Microsoft, we are nonprofit community organizations, aiming to help people bridge the digital divide and come to terms with the Information Technology developed since the 1970s.
The Microsoft Operating System we are currently using is Microsoft Win9x (Win95, Win98, WinME). This we use for the following reasons: it is in widespread popular use and to many people represents the computer itself; it has a lot of software packages in popular use; it is available on most of the second hand computers we routinely use.
Unfortunately for us, it is also in widespread use as a malware target. And Microsoft has discontinued any further development and improvement of it.
Microsoft has declared it listens to its customers' requests.
What we, Microsoft's customers, are asking is this: since you have made MS Windows 9x a virtual public utility, and then have trashed it, we its current users want its source code donated to us under the Microsoft Community License, so that we can look after ourselves and our technological futures, and hire the best and brightest in our universities and polytechnics to gain much-needed programming experience in sorting out the software problems that make it such a tempting target to malware writers.
